THE COSMETIC REPORT
November 1, 1996

Thanks to everyone for all of the great comments in the Cosmetic Connection guestbook. The winners of the October Beauty Pack drawing are... Wendy Huang of Berkeley, California, and Jennifer Pope of Pocatello, Idaho! Congratulations!

If you haven't signed the Cosmetic Connection guestbook yet, what are you waiting for? You can't win if you don't play :)

I have received quite a few requests lately from readers interested in back issues of The Cosmetic Report. Well, the wait is over. If you've just joined us and would like to catch up on what you've missed, back issues of The Cosmetic Report can be found at http://www.kleinman.com/cosmetic/back.html. Happy reading!
*For those of you who don't have web access, you can still email me directly for previous reports (heather@kleinman.com).

Do you ever wonder how Estee Lauder got to be such an empire? Maybe it's because we are giving EL all of our money! The results of last week's Cosmetic Poll are in, and EL wins as having the most expensive line of products! From Fruition ($45) to foundation ($27.50), we seem to love our EL, and don't mind paying for it. The most expensive product bought by one reader is Guerlain's Meteorites pressed powder compact for an unbelievable $130! In second place, Philosophy's "Coloring Book" collection of makeup and brushes for $160. Even though it costs more than the Guerlain, it comes with 28 separate products, making it only about $5 per item. That's actually a really good deal! Runners up for most expensive product include Chantal Ethocyn $80, Chanel's lipstick compact $50, and Chanel's Oil-Free Day Lift Plus $48.50.

Finally, a quick review of the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide samples I got last week. Yuk! I didn't like them. The capsules were greasy, like putting cooking oil all over your face. The day cream was nothing special at all. The night cream was so heavy and greasy it made my face break out in tiny pimples. I can't believe they think these products are for all skin types! Even if you have dry skin, I don't think these products are the right way to go. Better luck next time!
