As many of you read in the October 25 Cosmetic Report, I had myself a little fun at my local drugstore. Called The $10 Challenge, my mission was to find as many cool products as $10 would carry me. Here's the list to refresh your memory:
Jane True to You sheer foundation in Fair $.69 (trial size)
A good color match for my skin, went on sheer, and lasted all day. It was also great to try it with a trial size rather than buying a whole big bottle. Even at these low prices, I hate to waste!
Jane Barely Lips Sheer Lipstick in Partly Peach $.89 (trial size)
Feels moist, wears surprisingly well, and doesn't get cakey when you reapply.
Prestige eyeshadow in C-26 Ivory $2.69
Prestige is a serious player in the eye shadow market, with nice colors and textures that blend well for under $3. Wow! This color wasn't the best for my complexion (a little too yellow), but it worked well with some browns and taupes that I tried with it.
Nat Robbins Creme to Powder Shadow plus Base in Pretty Pink $1.99
I had the most fun with the Nat Robbins creme to powder eye shadow. The texture and color are comparable to those new expensive ones at the department stores, for about one-tenth the price! The shimmer factor was fun and still wearable, not flashy or dated.
Nat Robbins Stay-Put Lipcolor in Misty $2.99
Nat Robbins also impressed me with an amazing selection of colors and formulas. While I could have picked a more neutral color ("Misty" was very pink on me), the Stay-Put lipcolor has to be the best of the long-wearing formulas out today. It goes on smooth, sets instantly, feels natural, wears well even through lunch, and doesn't get crumbly if you put more on.
