For those of you who have been Cosmetic Report subscribers since the beginning, I'm sure you'll remember our $10 Challenge series. The goal of the $10 Challenge is to see just how far $10 can go toward cool makeup products at a local drugstore. For our sixth $10 Challenge, here's what I found:
Coty "24" Hour Creme Lipstick ($5.79) in "plumwine"
Even though I think naming this lipstick "24 hour" is a little ambitious, it does last pretty well through eating, drinking, etc. without coming off completely. It feels a little dry at first, but as it settles into your lips, it turns slightly creamy without feeling greasy or sliding around. I also like the old fashioned bullet shape (makes for easier application) and snazzy gold case. Many thanks to reader Lydia Ash for the review suggestion!
Bonne Bell Lip Lix lipgloss ($1.99) in "gotta date?"
For a quick and easy, no frills gloss, the Lip Lix collection is cool and cheap. Every gloss is a different color and a different "flavor", which I suppose appeals to someone who likes to taste their lipgloss! Personally, I like the color I got, but the "flavor" is nasty! I have no idea what it's supposed to be. What I do like is that the color is sheer and goof-proof, so I can throw it in my purse and never be without at least a little lipcolor.
Lord & Berry Dramateyes Waterproof Mascara ($4.99)
I wouldn't call this mascara "dramatic", but it does a nice job of defining and slightly lengthening lashes for a natural, everyday look. The brush doesn't get clumpy or goopy, so neither do your lashes. One of the coolest things about shopping for a Lord & Berry mascara is that the tester display has examples of the brushes attached to the unit so you can see and feel what they're like. Handy!
