Laura Mercier
report by Kristen of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel

Face Polish ($24)
I decided to pick this facial exfoliator up one day while visiting my favorite counter in Neiman Marcus. The saleswoman told me that it actually made the skin "glow" and customers raved on how radiant it made their skin. Well, I thought to myself, "How could a exfoliator make your face glow?" Always up for a challenge, I had to buy it. It is an apricot-colored exfoliator and it's pretty thick. After I cleansed my face, I used it and rubbed very lightly. I found it to be more rough than other exfoliators, so I gently rubbed it to not irritate my face. It rinsed off and my face actually looked like it was glowing! It look smooth and refreshed. It was a pleasant surprise indeed. I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that it's apricot-colored? Whatever the case may be, it works great. The texture is more gritty than others, so those of you with sensitive skin probably should skip it. I have to rub very gently or my face will feel raw, like the first time I used it. And you only need a little bit because a little goes a long way. I'd suggest getting a sample first before you buy it.

Secret Finish ($25)
This product is for patting on your face, particularly your undereye area, when you feel tired and need a little "pick me up." It's a gel-cream that looks and feels just like the Foundation Primer. It is designed to just pat it on. I used it and it smelled nice and clean and it felt refreshing for a minute, but the feeling quickly went away. I am a huge Laura Mercier fan, but I didn't care for this product a whole lot. Not enough to spend $25 on it. It was more of a feel-good-for-the-moment product.

Collection Gourmande Bath and Body Sampler ($75)
Since I love Laura Mercier, my bathroom wouldn't be complete without her selection of bath and body products. I sat at the counter and marveled on the luxurious scents of the various products. I wanted them all! Luckily, I found a trio that came with three of the products I wanted, but in smaller containers. The set contained Au Lait Souffle Body Creme, Creme Brulee Honey Bath, and Creme Brulee Sugar Scrub in 6 oz containers (the regular-sized containers are 12 oz). Let me say that the scents are unbelievably heavenly! I first used the Honey Bath in my bath. I ran my bath water and used the enclosed spatula to dip it out and pour it under the running water. It made some bubbles! While bathing, I used the Sugar Scrub. It has a really thick consistency. It reminds me of the wet sugar I find at the bottom of my cereal bowl. It's really thick and somewhat gooey. I used it to exfoliate my body, but not my face. It didn't scratch or otherwise irritated me even though the chunks are a decent size. After I got out of the bath and patted my skin dry, I used the Body Creme. Even though it really doesn't have the same Creme Brulee scent, it still smells amazing and it's really silky going on. I asked the saleswoman why this set was packaged with this creme instead of the Creme Brulee one and she said it's to tone down the fragrance of the bath products. Whatever the reason, I still love it and I am constantly getting asked "what fragrance are you wearing?" I like wearing this creme instead of perfume lately.

The products work well and it's definitely a winner in my book and will purchase these again when my current supply runs out. I would like to say that if you have really dry skin (I don't), you might not think the Body Creme is enough moisture. It's not the most moisturizing creme I've used, but it's the smell that gets me--and it stays scented all day long, which is not something I can say about most perfumes.

These products can be found at lauramercier.com or neimanmarcus.com, however, you might want to check out her own website. It has a larger selection and it has the trio set I bought in case you don't want to spend $40+ on the individual containers.
